I just finished a the *final* draft chapter for the forthcoming book OISE-UT Paper in Technology Education called "The Influence of ASCII on the Construction of Internet-based Knowledge." If anyone wants to read it and provide any comments, that would be great.
Posted by jason at June 6, 2003 02:10 PMDave noted the problem with my saying that the japanese was written in ASCII. Someone noted this with a draft last year too, but I forgot to check my notes to fix it. I will.
As I told dave, yes, the japanese is encoded into hexidecimal or unicode. But the character set used is still based on ascii, not the russian, japanese, arabic or korean character sets.
I need to make this point in the paper though. Thanks Dave, and the other person, for pointing this out.
